Biopsychology: An interdisciplinary program that draws on biology, chemistry, and psychology to offer new insights into the science of the brain.

Psychoneuroimmunology: The study of the effect of the mind on health and resistance to disease.
Complementary and Alternative or Integrative Health Medicine: Includes a large number of practices and systems of healthcare for a variety of cultural, social, economic, or scientific reasons, has not been adopted by mainstream Western medicine.
When a non-mainstream method is employed alongside conventional medicine, it is referred to as "complementary."
Conversely, when a non-mainstream method is utilized in place of conventional medicine, it is termed "alternative." A significant number of individuals who adopt non-mainstream methods also engage with conventional healthcare services.
In addition to the designations of complementary and alternative, the term "functional medicine" may also be encountered. This term can sometimes denote a concept akin to integrative health, as described below. However, it may also indicate an approach that is more closely aligned with naturopathy, a medical system that has developed from a blend of traditional practices and healthcare methodologies that gained prominence in Europe during the 19th century.
Complementary & alternative medicine is different from alternative medicine. Whereas complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine, alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. Complementary and Alternative Medicine may include the following methods:

Integrative health combines conventional and complementary methods in a cohesive manner. It prioritizes multimodal interventions, which involve the use of two or more treatment modalities, including traditional healthcare practices such as medication, physical rehabilitation, and psychotherapy, alongside complementary therapies like acupuncture, yoga, and probiotics. This approach focuses on addressing the individual as a whole rather than isolating treatment to a specific organ system. The goal of integrative health is to ensure well-coordinated care among various providers and institutions, effectively merging conventional and complementary strategies to support the overall well-being of the individual.
